What does Year of the WoMom mean to you???
My girl, Niki Stoller, and partner on this incredible movement summed up our WoMom workshop with the perfect quote.
"Don't be the reason someone feels insecure. Be the reason someone feels seen, heard, and supported."
Are you guys inspired?! We are wiping our eyes over here!! Listening to these proud mama's speak about their love and commitment to motherhood hits us to the core.
What is this WoMom power movement all about you ask? Let us dive in and share with you one of the most rewarding projects we've been lucky, no blessed, to work on!
It doesn't matter if you are a mother or not, we all know someone who we love and admire that is our role model super WoMom. For us, our Super WoMom is Niki Stoller with Seventh Bixel. We have been admiring her work for quite some time now and fortunate to consider her a friend. FUN FACT: Our friendship started from a COLD email!! We asked her to show us her ways and once connected we had more people and interests in common than expected. Our dream to come together finally came to reality with this project.
NIki is an incredible Mom to adorable boy/girl twins and runs a seriously rad business through it all. Our idea with Mom's encouraging mom's came to life, like all good ideas do, over cocktails and lunch at the most Instagram worthy restaurant in town, Cafe Gratitude. (Ironically fitting)
2017 began with a strong movement for women to share their voice and unite, so we bonded together over this message and translating it into motherhood. We brought inspiring Mom’s together that not only exude love for their children, but also have a commitment to fulfilling their own personal goals and passions outside of motherhood. We want this movement of mothers supporting mothers to continue long past Mother's Day.
Our focus was to elevate these women and come together to celebrate our parenting differences while eliminating the competition that often comes with raising children, especially in a social media world. We may not be mother's over here on our end, but we have mad respect for the Mom's out there who work everyday to provide and nurture their family. We're exhausted on the daily, so we don't know how these Mom's do it! Pure super powers!
Meet Jenna and Kristen, the creators behind The Liminal Space, and our partners on this epic day. After stalking them on Instagram, we learned this San Diego based organization had a mantra that spoke to our WoMom movement. The Liminal Space helps mother’s rediscover their femininity in postpartum through nutrition, spirituality, and sexual health workshops and support groups. They embrace feminine wholeness and allow women to embrace who they are creatively, something that can easily be overlooked after becoming a parent.
"Life is marked by transitions. Thresholds from one place in your journey to the other. In Latin this is called the liminal." - theliminalspace.org

Time to shout out all our inspiring WoMom's who joined us!!! You all have to go and follow along with their stories. It's incredible how much inspiration they all share on the daily. These ladies keep it real, pretty or not, and we bow down to them.
Our Venue was incredible. The Sourced Collective out of Laguna Beach was the perfect creative space to host our Mom’s encouraging mom’s lunch. They truly stand apart in the community by supporting local creatives to come together and work within their walls. Michelle Mercado, Founder and Exec. Creative Director fosters a place for cultivating community and collaboration. They were the perfect fit!
Motherhood is messy and imperfect. We set out to capture the raw essence and beauty of what motherhood truly is in a beautiful setting and we discovered that when you get a bunch of women together with a common goal, the outcome is magical. We found that we are all just trying to be the best versions of ourselves possible and we all want support to help us succeed. We are learning that it's not about being the best mom out there, but being the example and raising our children who we want them to be in this world. - Niki Stoller, Seventh Bixel
